
Rita Faye Wilcox Berkemeier

Rita Faye Wilcox was born to Calvin Wilcox and Wilma Turner Wilcox, who preceded her in passing, on March 16th 1952. She was raised with her brother Terry and her sister Sherry, both survive her. Rita began her life as Mrs. Jerry Robert John Berkemeier on February 8th 1969. Rita had two children, Brian John and Jeri Lynn Berkemeier, both survive her. Rita spent her adult life at her and Jerry’s Indianapolis home of which she left on February 28th 2017 when she was admitted into Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield Indiana where she received the absolute worst news yet received the kindest care. Rita was put into Hospice on March 8th 2017 and then was placed in her daughters care in Paoli Indiana on March 13th 2017 for her few remaining days where she passed peacefully at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday March 15th 2017, the day before she would be 65. Rita had six grandchildren, Azaria Aurora Smith who preceded her in death, Jeffery Smith, Stephen Smith, & Arron Thompson, Brenna Berkemeier and Alexander Berkemeier, who survive her. Rita also had two great grandchildren Jay Thompson and Izabella Thompson, who survive her. Rita, wife, mom, grandma, sister and aunt was loved dearly and she will be greatly missed.

My mother passed away with me at my home at 6:15 a.m. on March 15, 2017. She was diagnosed with lung cancer that metastasized systematically on February 28, 2017. She had 15 days of rest with love and support by many loved ones and friends. Mom is survived by her husband, Jerry Berkemeier, her son, Brian Berkemeier and daughter, Jeri Lynn Thompson, along with 5 grandchildren Jeffery Smith, Stephen Smith, Arron Thompson, Brenna Berkemeier and Alexander Berkemeier and 2 great grandchildren, Jay Thompson and Izabella Thompson. Her brother Terry Wilcox and her sister Sherry Price also survive her. Mom was cremated by her request and her remains will be conveyed to me and my care.
Mommy I love you dearly, you were with me when I came into this world and I was honored to be with you when you left this world. You are missed so grievously.
